Our Story
How the Firm Began
D’Alton Law Firm, P.C. opened its doors in Billings in 2008 with a clear purpose: to stand up for injured people and their families. Before founding the firm, Bill D’Alton practiced with a large defense firm in Billings, where he gained valuable experience representing the other side of personal injury cases. Over time, Bill realized he wanted to use that experience differently—not to defend insurance companies, but to advocate for people whose lives had been changed by an injury. Originally from New Milford, Connecticut, Bill came west to attend law school in Montana. What began as a move for his legal education became something more. Montana became home, and Billings became the community where he chose to build his career, raise his family, and establish his law practice. Today, D’Alton Law Firm remains committed to the principle on which it was founded: injured people deserve experienced, determined representation and a lawyer who understands what they are up against.
The early years were lean. Bill took cases other attorneys passed on — cases where the injuries were real but the insurance offer was insulting. He built a reputation by winning those cases, and by treating clients like people rather than file numbers.
Over two decades later, the firm has recovered more than $12 million for injured Montanans. The practice has grown, but the approach hasn't changed: every case gets Bill's personal attention, from the first consultation to the final resolution.
